Advisory is a school-wide program to support all students at Roosevelt High School to fulfill our mission of being College Ready, Career Ready and World Ready. Every student will be assigned an Advisory Teacher when they enter Roosevelt. The student will remain with this teacher for his/her duration at Roosevelt.
The purpose of advisory is
- To develop a mentor relationship with an adult on campus who can be a source to guide the student through high school and provide support
- To learn about different college and career paths and develop a post high school plan
- To develop other life skills and character education
- To participate in grade level events and activities.
Through advisory, students will use the Naviance website to create resumes, conduct career research and complete their search for the college that fits them. Students will also learn skills such as time management, organizational skills, coping with stress, friendship and social skills, social media/internet etiquette and safety, job interviewing skills and much more.
In senior year, students will complete their Personal Transition Plan (PTP) through advisory. The PTP is a required 0.5 credit for graduation.
